Documentary 'Hilihang King' screened

KATHMANDU, April 8: A documentary 'Hang Hilihang' about the last King (Hang) of Limbuwan was screened in Kathmandu on Thursday. It was prepared to showcase evidences that Hilhang was the last king of Limbuwan.

The documentary developed by the Hilihang Foundation and directed by Loken Sawan has put Khalanga Palace (Hilihang Durbar) from where King Hilihang ruled his area at the center stage.


The documentary has presented testimonials that King Hilihang had run his statecraft from Hastapur ridge which was the center point of three VDCs of present Panchthar – Nagi, Amarpur and Panchami.

The then Gorkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah had attacked the state ruled by Hilihang for 17 times in 1831 BS. The documentary has revealed that the warfare was ceased on mutual understanding after no win and loss.

The documentary which has presented a trajectory of historical evidences has highlighted Hilihang a brave and prominent warrior.

Born in 1783 BS, King Hillihang was murdered in neighboring state Sikkim in 1842 BS.

Minister for Supply Ganesh Man Pun who had reached to see the documentary commented that the piece has attempted to unleash the civilization, culture and identify. RSS
