Div 3 winning cricketers get Rs 350,000 each from govt

KATHMANDU, June 6: The government has honoured players of the Nepali National Cricket Team with cash prizes today. The team was successful in entering in ´Division-2´ being the champions of ´Division-3´ of the ICC World Cricket League held in Bermuda.



At a programme organised at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Minister for Youth and Sports, Ram Kumar Shrestha, honoured players, coaches and physiotherapists with Rs. 350,000 each. [break]



Minister Shrestha stressed on the need of increasing the budget of the prize in the days ahead. He said he would try his best not to deduct the taxes on the cash prize to be provided to players in further days.



Stating that the government has highly valued the success of the players, Minister Shrestha said that the Ministry and National Sports Council (NSC) would move ahead by collaborating with each other in infrastructure development of cricket.



On the occasion, he said that initiatives were underway with donor agencies for the construction of a stadium of international standard.



Captain of the cricket team, Paras Khadka, said such type of honour and prize would boost the morale of the players and it would also influence on their performance.
