"We discussed our issues and realized our weaknesses," said Minister Yadav. He said he would sack his personal secretary Manoj Chaudhary, who had also used abusive language at the secretary, as demanded by agitating bureaucrats at his ministry. "We have now no such [contentious] issues."
According to officials at the ministry, the rapprochement meeting was called as directed by the prime minister. On Monday, prime minister had a meeting with the minister and the agitating officials and directed them to resolve their differences through discussion. The prime minister took the initiatives after the minister could not attend his office since March 15 as differences between him and the bureaucrats deepened.
At the outset of the meeting, Secretary Hada briefed on what the minister had done to her, according to officials who participated in meeting. Then the minister told the meeting that he did not intend to hurt the secretary and regretted if she was hurt by what he had said on March 13, the official said.
"I regret if my words hurt her. I was aggressive toward her as she did not act on my recommendations on transfers. I became angry because I was also hungry and tired on that day," another official quoted the minister as saying in the meeting.
As the minister accepted his mistake, secretary Hada asked officials at the ministry to work in an amicable way and extend full cooperation to the minister. She also sought the minister´s commitment to ushering good governance at the ministry, which was one of the conditions put forth by the ministry officials for reconciliation with the minister.
