KATHMANDU, Sept 10: Dinesh Shrestha set a new national record in the snatch section of men's 94 kg category during the 26th Senior Women's & 45th Senior Men's Asian Weightlifting Championships being held in Phuket, Thailand.

Dinesh, who finished sixth among eight participants, lifted 115 kg to surpass his own previous mark of 113 kg. Dinesh had earlier lifted 113 kg in the snatch section during the Third Grand Prix Nationwide Weightlifting Tournament held in Lalitpur.
Dinesh lifted altogether 253 kg with 138 kg in clean and jerk. On Friday, Tara Devi Pun will compete in women's 75 kg, Gagan Singh Oli in men's 105 kg and Pukar Gurung in men's 105 kg and above section.
