According to Nar Prasad Pun, a local resident of Mudi VDC in Myagdi district, landslides have badly damaged a section of Dhaulagiri Circuit from Bagara of Mudi-9 to Dhaulagiri base camp. "As it is off season for tourism, tourists have not been affected by the blockade in Dhaulagiri Circuit," said Pun. "But, locals have faced tremendous difficulties due to the blockade." [break]
Hari Prasad Tilija, treasurer of Dhaulagiri Agriculture and Tourism Promotion Center, the blockade in Dhaulagirit Circuit could hamper tourism activities in this area later in August and September. "If the damaged route is not repaired at the earliest, not many tourists will come here later," said he. According to him, the locals have been trying to contain raging water streams on their own but to no avail.
Trekking in Dhaulagirit Circuit is famous among tourists for observation of natural biodiversity, Himalayan range, cultural diversity of various indigenous communities, wildlife and magnificent lakes.
