Addressing a mass meeting organized on the occasion of 100th anniversary of the International Women Workers Day at Tundikhel, Dahal refuted reports that the Maoists are for immediate revolt to capture state power and termed it as part of a conspiracy. [break]
"The rumors about immediate revolt is totally false. It is a part of the conspiracy being hatched in dark chambers to dissolve the CA and derail the peace process. But we would of course go for a people´s revolt if the conspiracy against promulgating a people´s federal constitution continues. It is our open challenge," said Dahal.
The Maoist chairman however said his party would push for peace and constitution-drafting till the end.
Dahal reiterated that a Maoist-led national government was a must to conclude the constitution-drafting and peace processes.
He argued that the current government was not voted into power so it should step down immediately. "They continue to stick to power even as the country is seeing a rising tide of crimes and murders,” he said.
Dahal also said the Nepal Army would not lend its support to the Nepal Congress (NC) and CPN-UML in future against the people. While lauding the role of Nepal Army for shifting its loyalty to the people from monarchy during the mass movement in 2006, he said, "The army did not come to the rescue of the monarchy and we hope it would not protect the NC and the UML either."
He also claimed that the army is aware about the changed political context. "We don´t have any enmity with the army. I hope that the army will take the issues of national independence and civilian supremacy seriously."
He, however, said that the Maoist-led government had to sack former army chief Rookmangud Katawal as he defied the people´s government and failed to embrace change.
