During the meeting at the Rastrapati Bhawan, Shital Niwas, on Wednesday, they held talks on contemporary political situation of the country and agreement among the political parties for extending the tenure of the Constituent Assembly (CA) as well as the situation after extending the tenure.[break]
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Dahal said that he informed the President about the decision of extending the tenure of the CA for three months and President Yadav expressed concern on it saying what would be the situation after May 27 after extending the tenure.
Dahal said he informed the President that his party had tried to promulgate the new constitution within May 27 by holding discussions among other parties, but attempts were in vain, therefore, the proposal of extending the CA´s tenure was forwarded.
Consensus was forged on Tuesday among political parties for extending tenure of the CA for three months, after that the cabinet meeting approved and registered the proposal of extending the CA tenure at the Legislature-Parliament.
On Monday, President Yadav had drawn the attention to promulgate the new constitution within May 27 by calling the leaders of four major political parties including the Madhesi Morcha.
Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai on Tuesday evening had informed the President about the CA extension proposal.
