KATHMANDU, Sept 5: The CPN-Maoist on Wednesday put forth a 70-point demand to the government related to nationality, livelihood and ways to end the existing political deadlock in the country.

Organizing a press conference at its central office in Buddhnagar, the party has listed out its demands under three categories; national sovereignty, people’s livelihood and providing political outlet in the country. [break]

Various demands, including ban on Indian numbers plate vehicles in Nepal, scrapping of the controversial BIPPA signed between India and Nepal, ban on directly funneling funds for development activities through INGOs, corruption control and adopting of measures to bring to book the tainted figures both in politics and bureaucracy after investigation.

Speaking at the conference, party Chairman Mohan Baidya accused the three party leaders of misleading the people in the name of forging consensus and reinstating the dissolved Constituent Assembly(CA).

He said that three party leaders are responsible for the current deadlock by dissolving the CA.

In a different context, Baidya ruled out the possibility of his party´s unification with the mother party UCPN (Maoist). Baidya further urged party cadres not to believe in the party merger rumors he said were spread by UCPN (Maoist).

On the occasion, Baidya also said they have decided to inform the Election Commission on the formation of their party.

Baidya also clarified that the two parties--UCPN (Maoist) and CPN-Maoist-- had earlier reached an understanding over the allocation of party offices, but not party properties.
