The leaders maintained the Maoist must present their work plan to implement their commitment to return seized properties, manage combatants and arms, dismantle paramilitary structure of Young Communist League (YCL) and renounce politics of violence to create an environment of trust among political parties. Talking to media persons at a tea party hosted by the NC Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel at his residence to mark the beginning of New Year 2067 BS, the leaders argued that the Maoists failure to implement the past agreements had made it difficult to find a way out of the current deadlock.
Senior NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said he would seek resignation of Prime Minister on behalf of the Maoists if the latter transformed itself into a civilian party. His remarks come at a time when the Maoists have been demanding resignation of the prime minister.
Deuba accused the Maoists of obstructing army integration though they had earlier agreed to complete the task within six months of the formation of elected government.
He also pointed out the need to forge consensus among political parties.
Similarly, Poudel disclosed that they had put forth the four conditions during their meeting with the Maoists. He said that they are ready to hold discussion on the formation of new government if the Maoists agreed to fulfill those conditions.
NC Acting President Sushil Koirala accused the Maoists of showing apathy toward implementing the past agreements.
On the occasion, the three leaders also reiterated that they had no differences as such as reported by the media.
