Constitution will be promulgated soon: Minister Nidhi

BHAKTAPUR, March 24: Minister for Physical Planning and Transport Bimalendra Nidhi has said that the consensus on state-restructuring among the major political parties was impending due to dispute on two districts of the far-western and three districts of the eastern region.

Laying the foundation stone of a water tank here today organized by Katunje Ghattekhola Drinking Water Committee, Minister Nidhi said consensus would be forged on the issues of constitution if the parties agreed on five districts.


He said, "The ruling political parties have wished to go on process while the opposition parties are trying to take to the streets due to disputes on five districts."

He was of the view that the parties would come to a conclusion in all five districts—Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kailali and Kanchanpur—to bring the constitution through talks.

Minister Nidhi argued that construction work of political and physical infrastructures is taking speed in the country and said that constitution writing was building political infrastructure while drinking water projects, roads and bridges construction were physical infrastructure.

He added that the country would get a political stability after the promulgation of constitution and the construction works of physical infrastructure would be expedited.

On the occasion, lawmaker Rameshwor Dhungel said that water collection and distribution was initiated to end the water crisis in Katunje area.

Also speaking at the programme, Chief District Officer Anil Kumar Thakur, Chief of Drinking Water and Sanitation Office Ashish Ghimire, Engineer of Drinking Water and Sanitation Office Narayan Dhungel and others said that the locals should be committed to ensure water supply in the area.

Committee Chairman Nishan Dhungel shared that three reserve water tanks each with capacity of 600,000 litres would be constructed in three phases with the investment of Rs 145.1 million.

Saying that 700,000 litres water is being distributed to 1,800 taps, Dhungel added that water would be supplied to the people in Bhaktapur Municipality-17 after the construction of the reserved tanks. Water would be produced from two additional deep borings.

The government has allocated Rs 118 million while consumers would collect other amount to make the project happen.

Dhungel added that a total of 17,774 people would be benefited after the completion of the project by the fiscal year 2076/077. RSS
