Speaking at a program in Tansen on Saturday morning, Pun said the formation of consensus government would not be possible before next three months, considering the time needed for the integration and management of Maoist combatants.
“[Nepali] Congress has proposed to form a consensus government only after finishing the task of the integration and management of combatants,” Pun said.
He also said other political parties are positive about offering Bhattarai the leadership of the government. “Therefore, it is [almost] guaranteed that Baburamji will lead the consensus government,” he added.
Highlighting achievements of the current government, Pun said there had been considerable progress on the peace and constitution writing fronts.
“The peace process is speedily heading towards its close and the government has been able to create conducive environment for constitution writing,” Pun said.
He however, said, the government could not, as expected, deliver on good governance and providing relief to the people.
Pun also cautioned members of the State Restructuring Commission against making public remarks indiscriminately.
“The commission should thrive towards reaching a common result. It is not appropriate for the members to make their own individual comments.”
