CJ forms precedents review committee

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha on Tuesday formed a committee led by Supreme Court (SC) Justice Prakash Wasti to review, find flaws and forward recommendations for the correction of hundreds of precedents set by the Apex Court since its inception.



Surkhet Appellate Court Judge Prakash Ram Mishra, Pokhara Appellate Court judge Kishor Silwal, Nepal Bar Association Chairman Prem Khadka, Supreme Court Bar Association President Krishna Sapkota, Dean of TU´s Faculty of Law Amar Panta, deputy attorney general and a joint registrar of SC have been appointed as members of committee.



The committee has been given three months to submit its report.



"The committee has been mandated to recommend how and what kinds of corrections can be done regarding controversial precedents," reads the CJ´s decision.
