Civil Mall opening doors from Sunday

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: Civil Mall - one of the largest shopping malls in the country - is throwing open its doors from Sunday.



Organizing a press meet on Friday, the promoters of the mall informed that building was one of the few purpose-built malls in the country constructed with the investment of more than Rs 2.5 billion. [break]



“Following our great success in the housing sector, we have stepped into the mall business in order to cater to the needs of buyers as well as provide an organized platform for business ventures,” said Icchya Raj Tamang, chairman of Civil Group, the promoters of Civil Mall. Tamang further added that Civil Mall is the outcome of the group’s four-year long exercise to introduce all the components necessary for the establishment of the mall.



“The mall will not just focus in shopping. It includes various entertainment like theatre, children’s play area and food court, four modern tracks of bowling alley, gaming parlor and many others,” Tamang added.







The Central Food Court spread of 12,000 sq ft and capable of seating 500 persons is one of the major attractions of Civil Mall. It features 12 kitchens serving variety of cuisines along with modern day magnificence of the mall. Similarly, the mall has allocated 10,000 sq ft for Bal Sansar - the play court for children aged 3 to 14.



“The children play area hand on gaming as well as educational and mental exercise to children,” Civil Mall said in a statement.



A premium multiplex cinema with 1,000 seat capacity is another attraction in the mall. The multiplex was designed by the consultants of Vastukarti India -- one of the best designers in India.







“Civil Mall is the largest mall in the country and will definitely hold top position because of its grandeur and attention to details for many years to come,” Tamang added.



The mall has five floors accommodating 175 stores ranging from clothing to home appliances, as per its tagline of ‘there is something for everyone’.



The front half of the fourth level of the nine-storied building is set aside for kiosks - a separate arrangement that includes a small bazaar inside the mall with 100 small vendors displaying wide array of products.







The mall has 14 escalators, two capsule lifts, two elevators and three stairways for easy movement of shoppers. It has two levels of parking lot capable of parking 150 four-wheelers and 100 two-wheelers.



“We have effective security system supported by the latest technological know how. Besides, we have arranged instant power back up to deal with power outage,” the statement added.
