Cholera kills child in Jajarkot

NEPALGUNJ, July 28: Even three months since the diarrhea outbreak people in Jajarkot are still dying of the disease. Surma Nepali, 4, of Majhkot-9 died of cholera on Tuesday. According to District Police Office Jajarkot, Nepali died three days after being affected. With her death, cholera death toll in Jajarkot has reached 165. In Majhkot alone, 18 people have died so far.



The most-affected area is Nayakbada, where 46 people died so far. Hemanta KC, a journalist who returned after visiting cholera-affected areas, said stock of medicine is depleting in Nayakbada. At most, the stock will last for another two days, he said quoting health workers there. The last time medicines reached Nayakbada was 11 days ago. The medicines were transported to the village on eight mules.
