CHITWAN, Sept 27: Chitwan District Police on Friday submitted a report to the district attorney office demanding punishments for those responsible in the murder of Krishna Adhikari of Fujel VDC of Gorkha district. The report was submitted after weeks-long investigation into the murder case, which was reopened a few weeks ago.

According to the spokesman of District Police Office Jiblal Chudali, they have demanded 6 to 8 months jail for the arrested person and life term for 10 others, who are absconding. [break]

Police had arrested Ram Prasad Adhikari, local UCPN (Maoist) leader, on the basis of the complaint by the victim´s parents, who had accused a number of persons of killing their son. Police had nabbed Adhikari from Bagbazar of Kathmandu on September 7.

Adhikari, 18, was abducted and murdered by unidentified people on June 6, 2004 during the Maoist insurgency.

Despite district attorney office´s initial refusal to open the conflict-era murder case, the extensive fast-unto-death strike by Krishna´s father and mother had compelled the government to reopen the case.

Talking to Repulica, a police source shared that that the punishment has been sought in line with the Muluki Ain [civil code].

Besides Adhikari, Chhabilal Paudel, Megnath Paudel, Bishnu Tiwari, Subhadra Adhikari, Sita Adhikari, Kali Prasad Adhikari, Him Lal Adhikari, Bhimsen Paudel, and Parsuram Paudel of Bharatpur are still at large.
