A meeting of the cabinet held at the prime minister's official residence at Baluwatar, decided to entrust Chief Secretary Leelamani Paudyal and other three secretaries of the government to coordinate the government efforts to control the disease. Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Surya Prasad Silwal, Secretary at the Ministry of Defense Ishwari Prasad Paudyal and Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population Shanta Bahadur Shrestha are in the committee."The cabinet has directed the chief secretary and secretaries to focus on medical treatment of the ailing people, prevention and control of the disease outbreak and coordinate the efforts," said Minister for General Administration Lal Babu Pandit.
According to him, government has also decided to use army helicopters and deploy medical teams to the affected area.
The government has faced strong criticism from various quarters for its faillure to contain the spread of the disease on time.
