Janga Bahadur BC, president of National Chicken Sellers Association, said price of chicken has been lowered in the capital due to improved supplies. He said supplies of chicken to the capital from other districts are increasing. “Price of chicken has come down also because most of the Hindus don´t consume meat products from October 1-16 as they mourn their ancestors during the period,” said BC.
According to the association, average daily supply of chicken in the capital is about 20 percent higher than the average daily demand of 250,000 kg.
“Chicken consumption across the country will go down over the next 16 days. As a result, farmers across the country are supplying chicken to the capital - the biggest market in the country,” said BC.
