KATHMANDU, Sept 13: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has said that its Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane is ready to return to prison whenever called by the administration.
The party issued this statement on Friday evening after controversy arose over the letter used in his release process.
Party spokesperson Manish Jha, through social media, said that Chair Lamichhane is prepared to respect the legal process. “Rabi Lamichhane is ready to return to prison,” Jha wrote.
According to him, Acting Chairperson DP Aryal, the Chief District Officer (CDO), and the prison chief held a meeting on Friday afternoon.
In that meeting, RSP conveyed to the administration that Lamichhane is prepared to present himself “once notified,” Jha stated.
Earlier, Acting Chairperson Aryal had admitted to a technical error in the release letter, taking responsibility for the coordination process and reiterating that Lamichhane is fully prepared to comply with legal procedures.
Accordingly, the party clarified that if deemed necessary by the administration, Lamichhane is prepared to return to prison.
