The system of schooling in Canada requires 12 years of education before a ‘High School Diploma’ is granted. After this, a student has an option of joining a two year degree or a 4 year complete Graduation Degree.
Rajendra Shrestha, Director of Professional Education Consultancy (PEC), Anamnagar, said, “Students have to obtain study permit in the Canadian Embassy, proof of identity (i.e. citizenship), proof of financial support, medical examination and acceptance letter by an approved educational institution in order to go to Canada.”
He added, “IELTS or any other English Language skill Test is very important for a student who wants to try for Canada and want to get an admission in any of the Canadian University or college.”
He said that in the past a student who could prove they were educated in English medium schools, didn’t have to have English language skill test. But now, most of the education institutions accept IELTS academic module as a pre-requisition during admission.
Raju Singh, counseling director of PEC, said, “A student in Canada can work up to 20 hours on a week legally.” However, if a student wants to work for more than 20 hours a week, they will have to produce a job offer letter from a Canadian employer to obtain the work permit and work legally.
A job offer can be through any company that needs the services of a foreign person in Canada. An appointment letter must include the title of the post being required, the tasks associated with that position, payment for employment, length of the position and location of the company.
