KATHMANDU, Aug 17: The Embassy of Nepal in Canada has issued seven-point guidelines for Nepali students planning to study in Canada. With the new academic semester approaching, the embassy released a notification outlining various seven key points to help students ensure a smooth and problem-free experience in Canada.
The embassy has advised all prospective students to secure accommodation before their arrival in Canada. The embassy emphasized the growing number of international students in Canada, which has made it increasingly difficult to find accommodation and employment.
The embassy also cautions prospective students against assuming that jobs would be readily available as soon as they arrive in Canada. The embassy in the statement reminded students not to expect immediate employment upon arrival. This message echoes a previous statement made in May, where students were asked to think that they may not get any employment opportunities for a considerably long time after their arrival there.

The embassy has further urged students to stay informed through official channels about the situation in Canada: The embassy has advised students to stay updated with information provided by the embassy through its website and Facebook page. Additionally, students should gather comprehensive details about the city where their college is located, including living costs and course-related expenses.
Keeping in view the attractive advertisements that have enticed students to go to Canada for study, the embassy has urged all prospective students to be cautious of misleading college advertisements. The embassy warned that some colleges may advertise in a misleading manner. Students should thoroughly research and verify the information before making any decisions.
Additionally, the embassy has urged prospective students to prepare for Canadian life before arriving in Canada. The embassy recommended that students familiarize themselves with local climate, lifestyle, and cooking methods. It also advised parents to ensure that their children are well-prepared for the costs associated with studying, living, and eating in Canada.
The embassy has urged prospective students to utilize Nepali networks before heading to Canada. Students should seek information about employment opportunities from Nepali expatriate organizations, such as relatives, friends, former student groups and the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) in the respective cities.
Furthermore, the embassy has urged students to make proper financial arrangements. Parents have been urged to ensure their children have adequate financial support for their studies, accommodation, and food before they leave for Canada.
Ambassador of Nepal to Canada, Bharat Raj Paudyal, said these recommendations aim to help Nepali students adapt more easily to life in Canada, avoiding potential pitfalls and ensuring a successful academic experience.
