The prime minister is scheduled to address the summit on Tuesday. He will also hold talks with Putin and other visiting head of governments on the sidelines of the summit.
The summit is being held at St Petersburg from November 23-24. Participants from 13 tiger range countries will attend the summit.
SLRP calls transport strike
BIRATNAGAR: Sanghiya Limbuwan Rastriya Party (SLRP), an underground outfit, on Sunday announced two-day transport strike in the Limbuwan region demanding that its leader Sher Bahadur Limbu, who has been arrested by the police for possessing weapons, be freed.
The outfit has declared transport strike in nine districts east of the Arun River. Coordinator of the outfit Rajkumar Nalbo issuing a statement has claimed that the police arrested Limbu on fake charges.
The police had arrested Limbu on October 29 this year in possession of a pistol and three rounds of bullets.
Civil servants demand pay hike
KATHMANDU: Nepal Government Employees´ Organization has expressed displeasure at the government decision not to increase the salaries of government employees in the budget announced Saturday.
Issuing a statement, the government employees´ organization has demanded that the government review the decision, while announcing pressure campaign for the same.
RPP-N asks EC to backtrack
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nepal on Sunday submitted a memorandum to acting chief of the Election Commission (EC) Neelkantha Upreti asking the EC to revoke its decision to consider identification documents other than the citizenship certificates while registering the voters. Issuing a statement, the party said citizenship should be the only basis for registering the voters. Giving in to pressure from Madhes-based parties, the EC on November 3 had decided to accept other forms of identification documents for voters´ registration.
