“Most of the time, people use the nine pound ball,” informed Prakash Bohora, manager of Bowling Boulevard at Kanti Path. The Boulevard has been around for 11 years. Each person gets 20 turns to roll the ball down the alley in a game.
Ramesh Thakuri, 20, expressed his love for the game: “I go bowling whenever I have free time,” adding that his health also benefits from the game. “Because bowling involves running, swinging of the arms and also carrying a heavy weight, it benefits the body.”
The game is also popular among those who are caught up in a hectic schedules. Bowling is tempting and ideal for office goers, too, who need a refresher after work, and want to stay fit simultaneously.
“There aren’t many places for family outings, and so I like to bring my kids here whenever I have time,” says Dambar Gurung. He himself has heavy working hours and no time for exercise. He and his two boys have a blast every time they go out bowling.
Unlike other games, where there are a few participants and many spectators, bowling can involve everyone. It does not require a lot of money nor does it demand special skills. It is something everyone can enjoy.
“There are also no hard and fast rules for the game; you only need to open your shoes and start playing,” said Dhungana.
Apart from bowling, these alleys offer various video games also. And for foods, there are snacks available within the house.
“We also provide restaurant food, if our customers order it,” informed Bohora.
So there is food and there is fun. What are you waiting for, then? Head down to an alley, pick up a ball, put on some funny shoes, and bowl!
