After winning the toss and electing to bat first at the Peter Burge Oval, Birisane, Papua New Guinea endured a disappointing time at the crease. Nepali bowlers dominated proceedings in a fantastic display of bowling, limiting the visitors to just 89 all out in 33.1 overs. D Bau (21), CJA Amini (19), L Siaka (18) and S Bau (13) were the only ones to reach double figures.[break]
Biswakarma was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 6/4 in just 6.1 overs. Captain Prithu Banskota took two wickets, while all rounder Pradeep Airee also got a wicket.
Chasing the 90-run target, Nepal registered easy win just in 18.5 overs losing four wickets.
Nepal enjoyed a comfortable chase, thanks to Naresh Bahadur (27) and opener Sagar Pun (20). Raju Pulam Magar also made a useful contribution of 18 not out; while Airee scored 12 not out, to book the 13th place for Nepal.
Earlier, Nepal had defeated Namibia by 39 runs and booked the clash against Papua New Guinea for the 13th place playoff.
