KATHMANDU, June 1: Constituent Assembly (CA) member representing Dalit Janajati Party Bishwendra Paswan on Tuesday returned allowances that he received as CA member to the Parliament Secretariat.

Paswan returned Rs 120,700. However, he hasn´t returned his salary.

Paswan said that he returned the amount on moral ground as the CA failed to draft the new constitution in the given time frame. He also appealed to other CA members to return the amount as everyone was equally responsible for failing to draft the new constitution.

Paswan is the only member representing his party in the CA.

Meanwhile, a writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court demanding that all salaries and allowances taken by CA members should be returned as they failed to draft the constitution within the stipulated timeframe.
