KATHMANDU, March 31: Newly appointed CPN-UML Publicity and Publication Department Chief Yogesh Bhattrai on Tuesday assumed his office and announced Madan Bhandari Memorial Journalism Award which carries a purse of Rs 50,000.
Bhattarai, who is also the party secretary, said the award will be presented annually from upcoming year under an award-directive that is yet to be formed. "In order to acknowledge the contribution, journalists will be awarded in memory of veteran leader Madan Bhandari on the day of his death anniversary," he added. Bhattarai also announced plans to set up a media center at the party's head office in Balkhu.

He also informed that the monthly mouthpiece magazine 'Nawayug' will be made inclusive with additional columns representing different languages.
"We encourage and promote students who choose to research, write thesis on late UML leaders like Puspalal Shrestha, Man Mohan Adhikari, Sahana Pradhan among others," Bhattarai informed.
