'Barahachhetra temple in high risk'

ITAHARI, March 20: The ancient and religious pilgrimage site of Barahachhetra at Barahachetra VDC in Sunsari district, which is a major shrine of the Hindu believers, is at high risk due to cutting of its banks by the Saptakoshi River.



Condition has been created to start efforts for stopping it as dangers of temple being washed away has been created from landslide anytime as it is being eroded from the southern part of the temple by the river.



Crisis can be created if this is not stopped by the government immediately for long-term conservation of the Nepal´s major shrine, said temple priest, Yogesh Bhandari.



He said the situation is terrible and informed that a Barahakunda temple is being built to give the glimpse of Lord Baraha rescuing the earth being submerged in the rasatala or the lower world.



Meanwhile in a discussion after the observation, speakers called for a grand master plan for its long-term conservation, and stressed on the need of attention of the concerned ministry and the Nepal Tourism Board.
