Baidhya got 26 votes in the general assembly held at the National Table Tennis Training Center, Lainchaur, which also elected the 11-member executive committee. Baidhya´s closest opponent Sudil Shahi got 19 votes and Pankaj Sapkota 17 votes. This is the third time Baidhya has been elected the president of association.[break]
Earlier, the election scheduled for March 10 was called off after the general assembly failed to hold the vote following internal disputes.
"I will give continuity to my previous plans and policies for the development of table tennis. I will try to give continuity to senior league tournaments, focus on the development of junior table tennis and try to improve international relations," said Baidhya.
"We shall bring new plans and programs after discussing it at the executive committee, Nepal Olympic Committee, players and other stakeholders," Baidhya said adding, "We will focus to improve our status firstly in the South Asian region."
Five candidates filed nominations for the post of two vice presidents. Dharmananda Bajracharya got 39 votes and Bijendra Hamal 37 votes to be elected as vice presidents. Kuber Prakash Singh was elected the general secretary. Singh got 24 votes while his closest opponent Basantaram Nakarmi got 20 votes and Sujit Manandhar 18 votes. Shankhar Gautam was elected secretary unopposed. Tajendra Singh Mahara came ahead of Bikash Ghimire for the post of treasurer.
Sushil Kumar Paudel, Sandhya Shakya, Sijarin Shah, Nabin Bahadur Singh and Subash Shrestha were elected members. Altogether nine people had filed candidacy for five members.
The committee will get a full shape after the nominations of three vice presidents and five members.
