KATHMANDU, Dec 15: Sher Bahadur Deuba has been reelected as President of Nepali Congress.
Deuba was able to make it to the post of party president again in the second round of voting held on Tuesday evening by defeating his rival Dr Shekhar Koirala with a margin of *878 votes.

A total of 4623 votes were cast in the second round of the poll. Deuba required at least 2311 votes to get elected as the party president. While Deuba received a total of 2733 votes, Dr Koirala was able to secure 1855 votes. A total of 35 votes were declared invalid.
Although Deuba had received the highest number of votes during the first round of voting, he was unable to secure requisite 51 percent votes to get elected as the party president. The second round of voting was held on Tuesday evening.
