CHITWAN May 17: Nepali Congress leader Ram Sharan Mahat said the Constituent Assembly deadline shouldn’t be extended before completing army integration.

Army integration is the need of hour since provision regarding army should be clearly mentioned in new constitution, he said while speaking at an interaction organized by Democratic Lawyers’ Association, Gaidakot.[break]

“Congress is for non-extension of the Constituent Assembly before handing over the weapons. This is essential for army integration,” Mahat said. Congress’ first condition to extend the CA tenure is weapon management, he said.

He also said that federalism shouldn’t be implemented without holding proper discussions in a country like Nepal.
