Regional administrator Dharanidhar Khatiwada has claimed that the activities of the two groups have been greatly reduced due to active coordination between the administration and security personnel. [break]
Speaking at a function, he said that besides these two groups even the activities of the Janawadi Kirat Workers Party and other groups in the Tarai are greatly contained.
Similarly, the regional administration office has claimed that the law and order situation in the region has improved over the past one year. While there were 168 cases of kidnapping filed last year, this year the number has dropped to 67, the office said.
The office also informed that out of the total number of kidnap cases registered so far, all those kidnapped except two people have been successfully freed. It also informed that of 28 guns taken away by Janawadi Kirat Workers Party when they attacked Khotang Police Post, 25 have been retrieved.
According to the regional administration office, altogether 172 weapons have been seized by security personnel from armed factions this year.
Khatiwada said strict instructions have been given to security forces to keep alert in order to maintain law and order and the safety and security of people in the region.
