After losing the first two sets 23-25, 21-25, APF made a valiant comeback to win remaining three sets 25-20, 25-22, 15-12. Champion APF bagged a purse of Rs 50,000 along with the running shield. Runner up APF had to remain contended with Rs 30,000. [break]
APF coach Deependra Bista said high confidence level was the key to their success despite disappointment in the first two sets. "We lost the first two sets due to lack of coordination among players," Bista said. Police coach Suresh Rimal opined that absence of his key players due to injury was the reason for their defeat.
Meanwhile, Nepal Army Club edged past Central Region 25-17, 26-24, 25-15 in the third place playoff match. Army bagged Rs 20,000 for the feat.
APF skipper Kailash Bhatta was declared the best player of the tournament and awarded Rs 5,000. Similarly, Kul Bahadur Thapa, Sumsher Chand and Ramesh Chaudhary of Police were declared the best spiker, defender and server respectively.
Mahendra Shrestha and Khusi Chaudhary of APF won best blocker and lifter respectively. Each of them received Rs 3,000 apiece.
