ANNFSU leaders exchange fisticuffs

KATHMANDU, Dec 8: At least half-a-dozen student leaders of All Nepal National Free Students´ Union (ANNFSU) were injured when the union´s two conflicting factions clashed with each other in Kirtipur Wednesday.



According to witnesses, the leaders of the UML-aligned student union hit each other with chairs, sticks and whatever came handy, besides exchanging fisticuffs. [break]



The union vice-chairman Nabin Lama, treasurer Deepak Gautam, and other leaders, including Chaturbhuj Shahi, Gautam Rai, Kamala Bohora, Arati Lama, and Bhakti Lama were injured in the clash. “Sahi has received three stitches on his head, and taking rest at home,” said Gautam.



According to the leaders, the clash erupted after the union chairman Madhav Dhungel and general secretary Kishore Bikram Malla, who are from KP oli faction, unilaterally took a decision to hand over most of the union´s political responsibilities to the leaders of their own faction.



The clash ensued after Chairman Jhalanath Khanal faction objected to the decision.
