Speaking at a program in the capital, Surendra Malla, chairman of the airlines, informed that the airline would use Bahrain Air´s Airbus 319-100 aircraft with 132 seat configuration for the flights. “The aircraft will have 12 seats in business class and 120 seats in economy class,” Malla added.
“Initially, we will fly to New Delhi seven times a week from Kathmandu for the first three months.”
He also informed that the airline would fly to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Guangzhou (China), Mumbai (India) and Doha (Qatar) after three months of operations in the New Delhi sector in the second phase. “In the third phase, we will have a fleet of two aircraft - A319 and A320 - for daily flights to New Delhi, four flights a week to Doha and Kuala Lumpur, and three flights a week to Guangzhou and Mumbai.
“We are looking forward to support Nepal Tourism Year 2011 campaign. Nepal is expecting over one million visitors and the increased air connectivity will make a significant contribution to increase inflow of visitors,” Malla said.
He further added that were investing $11 million on the airline.
Speaking on the occasion, Prachanda Man Shrestha, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, hoped that the beginning of service by Alpine Air would help increase the number of tourists to the country.
Hari Bhakta Shrestha, CEO of Alpine Air, said they would offer New Delhi flights at a relatively cheaper rate.
