KATHMANDU, March 16: An Indian private company Infrastructure Leasing and Finance Services (IL & FS) has been awarded the contract of preparing Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the fast-track road connecting the Tarai Madesh with the capital.

A bilateral agreement to this end was signed at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport amidst a programme Monday. Satyendra Shakya, Chief of Kathmandu-Tarai Fast-Track Project and IL&FS Executive Director Mukunda Satre signed the agreement on behalf of their respective side. As per the agreement, the company would complete the DPR within the next four months.

On the occasion, Secretary at the Ministry Tulsi Prasad Sitauala said the government had to pay no amount for the preparation of project DPR and the company would finish the work within the deadline.

Earlier, the government announced a bid through a global tender network for the development of report. Three Indian companies applied for the tender and of them, a proposal of IL&FS was found the most appropriate and the government decided to grant the contract to it. The company has promised for conducting the DPR work free of cost. RSS
