KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, April 20: A doctor at a hospital in southern Afghanistan says three bodies were received after a suicide bomber attacked a police station in the capital of Helmand province.

Provincial police chief Gen. Nabi Jan Mullahkhail says three people were wounded when a suicide bomber struck the gate of the compound in Lashkar Gah late Sunday, allowing two other militants to enter.

But Dr. Darwesh at the Emergency hospital, an international charity, says it received the bodies of two policemen and one civilian. He says 11 other people wounded in the attack are being treated there. He asked that his last name not be published because he was not authorized to brief the media.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Taliban have long been active in the province.
