ITAHARI, Jan 7: 42nd National Athletic Championship has begun at the Sports City Ground Ithari today.
A total of 187 athletes are participating in the Championship. Nepal Athletics Association has organised the three-day Championship in coordination with Morang Athletics Association.
Inaugurating the Championship, Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council, Keshav Kumar Bista said that the government has shown its interest in development of the sports sector.
He also shared that Madan Bhandari International Invitational Gold Cup Football tournament, that carries the highest amount of prize money in the country, is going to be held at the Itahari-based Stadium.
Various games including 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres race as well as high jump, long jump, triple jump, among other games are being held in the Championship. RSS
