25 Nepali illegal migrants arrested in El Salvador

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, Sept 7: The Salvadoran navy have arrested 76 illegal migrants including 25 Nepalis from a boat in the Pacific, media reports said. Navy Captain Maximiliano Corado has been quoted as saying that the boat was detected about 80 km off the coast and that it´s final destination was United States.



The arrested include 25 Bangladeshis, 25 Nepali, 21 Eritreans and five Ecuadoreans.



Corado said on Sunday that the boat had left the Ecuadorean port of Manta a week ago. He said all the migrants appeared to be undocumented and all except the Ecuadoreans would to be deported. The Ecuadoreans were turned over to the police for investigation of possible migrant trafficking.
