The fire that started from the kitchen of Bikram Yongya´s house destroyed all but one of the houses in the bazaar, which is the major market for locals of around a dozen VDCs of Panchthar and Taplejung districts. [break]
Chief of Panchthar Police DSP Rajesh Nath Bastola said families of Shyam Thebe, Harka Thegim, Dilli Yongya, Kumar Bhandari, Dilli Bhandari, Purna Laxam, Teku Bhattarai, Bikram Yongya, Gopal Shrestha and others have become homeless after the fire.
Police put the material loss at around Rs 20 million as black cardamom, medicinal herbs and food grains were also destroyed in the fire.
