NEPALGANJ, Aug 30: Four Yarchagumba traders from Darchula have been looted by a group Thursday. Abir Singh Mahar, Mandhir Singh Mahar and Harak Singh Mahar of Tapoban VDC-8 and Gajendra Singh Mahar of Sintula VDC-7 in Darchula district were robbed at the Nepalganj-based Kantipur Guest House on Thursday evening.

The looters made away with 1.5 kg of Yarchagumba worth over Rs 3 million as well as Rs 1 million in cash from the traders. The victims informed that they were looted by a man called Prakash Chandra and his men who had been following them for the last few days "to help them sell the Yarchagumba claiming direct link with some Chinese businessmen."

"We came with Prakash after he proposed us to visit Nepalganj to sell the Yarchagumaba. He said that he had a good relation with some Chinese businessmen dealing in Himalayan herbs. Now we realized that he was following us with the intention of looting," said Abir Singh. [break]

The looted people are among the reputed traders in Darchula and have long been involved in buying and selling of Yarchagumba, also known as the Himalayan viagra.

According to the victimized traders, after checking in at the guesthouse, Chand took all of them out and offered them drinks before vamoosing . The bag containing Yarchagumba was kept at the hotel room itself. However, Harak Sing smelt a rat in Chand´s behavior, and returned to the hotel room. But Chand, who was already there locked Harak Singh in the bathroom and fled with the Yarchagumba bag.

"Chand suddenly disappeared while we were drinking. When we reached the hotel room he had already fled the hotel room and the bag was missing," said Abir Singh. He also claimed that there was also Rs 1 million cash in the bag. The victim said they had kept the cash in the bag as they were planning to buy a piece of land in Bardiya after selling Yarchagumba.
