LAHAN, June 10: A staff of the Lahan branch of Asian Life Insurance who went missing on Friday has been found to be abducted. The abductors have demanded Rs 100,000 ransom for safe return of the 24-year-old Radeshyam Yadav, a local of Lhahan-4.

Yadav was kidnapped while he was on his way to home. On Saturday, the kidnappers telephoned Yadav´s family members and threatened to finish him off if they failed to arrange the money. [break]

According to Yadav´s uncle Harinarayan, the family has received several calls from the mobile number 9814703863.

“On Friday he had informed us over the phone that he would not come home as he needed to go to Rupani in Saptari district. So we did not bother about him that day. But when he did not turn up even by Saturday, we were worried a little,” Harinarayan said. “When the phone rang, we were excited thinking it was his call. However, it was the call from his abductors demanding Rs 100,000 in Indian currency for his return,” he added.

Lahan police said it has been trying its best to trace the location of the caller. The police have already detained half a dozen suspects for questioning.

“As soon as we were informed about the abduction we mobilized a search team. We are trying to trace the location on the basis of the mobile number,” said SP Bajrakishor Chaudhari.

Yadav had last contacted his family from Rupani. The police suspect that he might have been abducted from the same place.

“We are extremely worried as we are not in a position to manage the big amount demanded the abductors,” Harinaryan said. “But his life is at risk as the abductors have been making frequent calls asking for money urgently,” he lamented.
