PM positive on open university

KATHMANDU, Oct. 10: Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has expressed the commitment to move ahead the Open University Act pending at the Legislature-Parliament.



Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai expressed the commitment at a meeting on Monday with a delegation of the proposed Open University Secretariat set up jointly by Non-Resident Nepalis´ Association and Education Ministry.[break]



Dr Bhattarai on the occasion agreed to take steps towards ensuring that a law regarding the concept of Open University is approved as soon as possible.



According to Secretariat member Dr Pramod Dhakal, the law upon coming into force would generate other atmosphere for investment as well as leading to setting up of the university.



The delegation included Secretary at the Education Ministry, Dr Shankar Prasad Pande, and Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission Deependra Bahadur Chhetri among others.
