In Nepal alone, over 50,000 children die due to preventable causes such as pneumonia and diarrhea, and the other 80% of risky delivery taking place at home without the presence of a skilled birth attendant, thus increasing the newborn’s risk of contracting life-debilitating diseases.[break]
However, hope is not lost, as every single one of us has the power to save lives and it all starts with awareness. Sure, one can’t bring about drastic changes, but two can.
Harnessing the power of music to generate awareness, Save the Children’s global campaign to save newborns, Every One is organizing a concert with 1974 AD, Save the Children’s Artist Ambassador.
Speaking about the upcoming concert Adrian Pradhan, the vocalist of 1974 AD, said “Being public figures, we’ve incurred certain social responsibilities which we take seriously.

The Every One Campaign’s agenda and their philosophy match with our ideologies, and we’re more than happy to be supporting such a cause.”
Pradhan added, “When you see the stats, it’s just mind-boggling. I believe no one should suffer because of the negligence of another, or due to lack of knowledge. If we can use our music to appeal to a broader spectrum of society and create awareness, then why not?”
An issue close to their heart, 1974 AD has been supporting Child Rights Issues through various fundraising concerts in the past such as Come Together in 2009 and 2010, and Adopt-A-School initiative.
The EVERY ONE Campaign in Nepal aims to support the government to stay on track to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
“The Government of Nepal is doing a fantastic job, and we’re aiding them meet the MDG-4 of reducing child mortality by two third before 2015,” shared Sanjana Shrestha, information coordinator of Save the Children.
“1974 AD have been very generous with their time, and we appreciate them. The concert, one of many planned in future, is to create awareness, including among the urban crowds about the perils faced by newborns,” she added. “Your support of this cause and your attendance at the event will make an important impact.”
