It has already been around a decade that Nepali music fanatics have witnessed the old lineup of Nepali legendary band 1974 AD, performing together on the stage.
It was back then in 2012, the lineup comprising Phiroj Shyangden, Adrian Pradhan, Manoj Kumar KC, Nirakar Yakthumba and Sanjay Shrestha, was seen playing together in Patan Museum, Patan which was a bi-annual musical event organized together by Hits FM and House of Music.
I.O.I Confirmed To Be In Discussions For Reunion
First, it was Phiroj, the vocalist who quit the band and flew the USA for a quieter life. In his absence, Adrian continued himself as a full-time vocalist for 1974 AD to keep the thrill still alive. But eventually, Adrian too decided to walk off from the band, to focus solely on his solo career.
However, the remaining members continued the band with several vocalists; but failed to restore the band’s legacy. Fans missed the original voices and the flavor of 1974 AD. So, acknowledging the void, Adrian and Phiroj collaborated together as ‘The Original Duo’ in 2016 and the duo together produced some songs and went on for musical tours.
Nevertheless, 1974 AD’s fan still missed the old lineup and the fans realized that the founding members won’t perform together in coming days. Amid this uncertainty, the band surprised their fans when they revealed about their reunion at an event ‘Nirantarta’ held at Moksh, Jhamshikhel last July.
Except Phiroj, all members were present in the event which reminded the band’s early days being together. As Phiroj was still in the USA, he couldn’t make to the event but attended through a video chat. Meanwhile, in the same event, they announced to launch their 10th studio album and perform a gig.
After two months of their reunion, the band has decided to perform their first gig which is scheduled on September 21 at LOD, Thamel. The tickets for the event are priced at Rs 1,000 (General) and Rs 1,500 (VIP).
