Uttam Nepali, a senior scholar and modern painter of Nepali fine arts, passed away at the age of 84 on Wednesday.

Nepali who had been suffering from heart and respiratory problems for several years died in the course of treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj at 4:30AM.
He was an expert in figurative works, which later took the shape of abstract paintings using wash technique and is known as A master of abstract art in Nepal. He was known for his poems with issues of philosophical meanings of life and the universe as a whole. He was cremated at Pashupati on Wednesday.
He is survived by two daughters.
