KATHMANDU, September 13: The appeal of solar power generation is on the rise among private energy producers, leading to an increase in solar power output. Solar energy is gaining popularity because it can be constructed more cost-effectively and quickly compared to hydropower projects.

DAMAK, Nov 3: A shift from regular electricity to solar power has come as a relief for residents of Gauradaha in Jhapa district. Locals who had to pay a minimum of Rs 130 per month on electricity bills now have to pay Rs 105 only, thanks to the installation of a solar-powered water pump in their locality. Of the paid amount, Rs 5 will be used for the payment of the community water tap.

KATHMANDU, April 21: When it comes to proper management and timely completion, solar power projects of the country are no better than hydropower projects. The government’s plan to generate 51 MW electricity by harnessing solar power is most likely to be mired in delays and deadline extensions.
