I was fascinated to read about human resource management in Bhutan and the hydropower project examples provided there. Information on Nepal Civil Service and the associated HRM problems are also rich. Similarly, the book provides insights into economy, politics, culture, and I found this to be motivating for young readers.

Working tirelessly with the notion of recognizing coworkers for their work, Upaul Majumdar, general manager at Soaltee Crowne Plaza, has been materializing his experience of over three decades for the betterment of the hospitality fraternity. He received three awards in 2019, for his exemplary work in the hospitality sector. Entitled with the Asia's Best General Manager (Hospitality) award in 2018, Majumdar believes it is not just about doing business but taking care of the people who work for the company. Republica's Muna Sunuwar caught up with Majumdar to talk about the status, human resource management and Soaltee's preparation for VNY 2020, among others.

Though human resource (HR) management is a critical component of any organization or firm, many in Nepal still tend to overlook the importance of people management. They still undervalue their human capital. While HR management practices have been evolving in Nepal from traditional to modern form, there is still a long way to go to make the people management a core management practice in many companies.
