KATHMANDU, Nov 14: Literary figure Shanta Das Manandhar passed away at the age of 90. Literary Prof Jagat Upadhyaya said that he died today while undergoing treatment at the local Vayodha Hospital. He is a pioneer of children's literature in Nepal.

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: The General assembly of Madan Puraskar Guthi, organized on Monday, has decided to award Shanta Das Manandhar with the Jagadamba-Shree for his contributions in promoting, developing, and assisting children literature from the past five years. Similarly, Nilam Karki Niharika’s ‘Yogmaya’ will be felicitated with Madan Puraskar 2074.

Veteran author, Shanta Das Manandhar, has been awarded ‘Devkota Lu Xun Pragya Puraskar’ on Saturday at the premises of Nepal Art Council, Baber Mahal.  Manandhar received a cash prize Rs 50,000 and a copper plate from Rabindra Adhikari, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Speaking at the award function, Adhikari said that art and literature had the power to direct the society into a right direction.
