KATHMANDU, July 7: Despite the absence of ships operating in Nepal, there are two government agencies dedicated to the management of ships, resulting in an annual expenditure of over 90 million rupees. These two separate bodies, namely the Waterway Project and the Nepal Shipping Office, have been established under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure.

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: The Nepal Shipping Office inaugurated by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli three year ago has spent almost Rs 30 million in a year despite no works at all. The Office of the Auditor General in its annual report revealed that the Nepal Shipping Office has spent Rs 28.2 million in a year. Last year, the office had purchased two vehicles worth Rs 14.3 million.

KATHMANDU, May 6: Nepal Shipping Office, which was established on February 14, 2019, with the aim of studying and exploring on inland waterways in Nepal, is purchasing an expensive SUV. This comes at a time when the government is asking all agencies to cut back on non-essential expenses.
