KATHMANDU, July 27: The Election Commission (EC) has said that over 41 percent people's representatives elected at the local levels belonged to the age between 21 to 40 years.  Of the total, 14,442 youths belonging to this age group were elected in the local level election held on May 13.

CPN (Unified Socialist) candidate Dhanraj Acharya has maintained his lead in the mayoral race for Pokhara Metropolitan City. As many as 107,962 votes have been counted so far in the metropolis.

MORANG, May 20: The ruling alliance candidate for the mayoral post of Biratnagar Metropolis, Nagesh Koirala of the Nepali Congress (NC) is leading in the mayoral race with over 6,000 votes in the ongoing vote count.

CHITWAN, May 20: CPN (Maoist Center) leader Renu Dahal who is a common candidate of the five-party ruling alliance has maintained her lead in the mayoral race of Bharatpur Metropolitan City against her closest rival, UML’s Bijay Subedi, as vote-counting continues.

KATHMANDU, May 18: Independent candidate Balen Shah is leading the mayoral race of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) by a margin of more than 8000 votes against his closest rival Keshav Sthapit of the CPN-UML.

KATHMANDU, May 18: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)'s Ramesh Napit emerged victorious as the mayor of Shankharapur Municipality with 4,700 votes. His closest contender Laxmi Prasad (LP) Shrestha of CPN (Unified Socialist) got 4,202 votes, said Municipal Election Officer Sita Niraula.

BIRATNAGAR, May 14: Mayor candidate of the ruling five-party alliance in Biratnagar Metropolitan City Nagesh Koirala is leading in the election race with 434 votes out of 1,200 votes counted so far.  Koirala’s nearest rival Sagar Thapa of the CPN-UML has received 316 votes so far.

The counting of votes of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is currently underway.

DHARAN, May 14: The Mayor and Deputy Mayor candidates of democratic-left coalition are leading in the local polls as the vote counting is currently underway.  As per the preliminary results of the 100 vote counts from ward one, two and three, respectively, mayoral candidate Kishor Rai is leading with 116 votes out of the total 300 votes counted so far.

KATHMANDU, May 11: Nepal Tourism Board has decided to operate shuttle bus service for the convenience of tourists on the day of the local level election. Shuttle buses will be operated in Kathmandu on May 13, keeping in mind the inconvenience to the air passengers between the airport and the hotel as movement of public and private vehicles is prohibited on the day.

KATHMANDU, April 26: A total of 56 candidacies have been filed for the post of mayor in Kathmandu Metropolis for the local level poll scheduled for May 13. Similarly, the number of candidacies filed for the post of deputy mayor stands at 31.

KATHMANDU, March 22: The Supreme Court (SC) has stayed the decision of the Election Commission (EC) to make it mandatory for all elected people's representatives to tender resignation from their respective posts before filing nomination for the upcoming local level polls.
