KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has said the Election Commission is adopting a zero-tolerance policy against breach of the election code of conduct.
In his address to an orientation programme organised today for micro observers deputed to 136 local levels of eight districts in the Province no.2 where the third phase of local election is taking place on coming September 18, he highlighted the necessity of support and cooperation from all quarters to make the election successful.
Directing micro election observers to keep a close tab on the possibility of economic misuse during the election, he said,” It is the time to break up the mass psychology which believes the violation of election code of conduct happens.”
Election Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Shah expressed his hope that information to be given by micro election observers would be effective in preventing the election from becoming extravagant and limiting the election cost.
EC joint-secretary Deepak Subedi instructed the micro observers to do their duties sensitively.
A total of 40 micro observers have been mobilised for eights districts--Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa -- for the third round election. (RSS)
